Basic Emergency Mangement, Exercise Design 100 suspended

Over the past several months, we have been working at updating our online training system to better serve the needs of the Emergency Management community.

The the final steps in the transition from our old system to our new system will start during the week of March 27th.  On Monday the 27th, access to create new accounts in the Moodle system will be closed.  Wednesday, full access to Moodle will end.  

We know that this may cause some inconvenicence for those who are working at completeing the Basic Emergency Mangement  and Exercise Design coures.  We will be working to have those two courses available on our new system as soon a possible.  We apologize for any inconvenience.

Updated ICS I-100 Now Available

AEMA's Training Team is pleased to announce that an updated presentation of Incident Command System I-100, Introduction to Incident Command System is now available.

Designed by the same team responsible for our recently introduced I-200, the new I-100 presentation is more interactive and engaging for the participant.  It reflects our goal of making our online learning experience more interesting for the participant, and more effective at communicating the information they need to be effective in their role in the management of emergency and disaster incidents.

Accessing the new course starts with creating an account in our learning management system.  Go to alberta.noverant.com and click on "New User".  Fill in the form, and in the field marked "Please note the training you are requesting" type in "AEMA ICS I-100"  

As all new accounts are processed by us, please allow up to three business days for your account to be activated.  

If you have completed ICS I-100 in the old system and need a certificate or you have a question, send a message to aema-training@gov.ab.ca

ICS I-200 Online

ICS  I-200 is now available for online delivery from the AEMA.

As announced at the 2016 AEMA Stakeholder Summit, after several months of hard work, the new online version of I-200 offers an alternative for those who have a need to progress to Basic ICS for Single Resource and Initial Action.

Accessing the new course starts with creating an account in our learning management system.  Go to alberta.noverant.com and click on "New User".  Fill in the form, and in the field marked "Please note the training you are requesting" type in "AEMA ICS I-200"

Requests for assistance with online courses

We want to assist you as best we can with accessing the online exams for ICS 100, Basic Emergency Management and Exercise Design 100.  

If you are in need of some help getting on the system see the "How to Register for Exam" page for guidance.

Also, depending on the settings in your email application, the message from our system may be recognized as spam.  Take a look in your junk mail folder.  Some users have reported finding the message there.

If you are still having difficulty, send an email message to

aema.training@gov.ab.ca  

Messages will be replied to on the same business day if received between 8:00 am and 4:30 pm mountain time, and the next business day if received later.

We have learned that some email addresses do not save properly in the system.  If you do not receive an acknowldgement message from the system within an hour, we may need to update your profile manually.  Send an email from the address you wish to use to us at

New Emergency Coordination Centre Course Now Available

The AEMA Training Development Unit recently released a new two day Emergency Coordination Centre course.  This new presentation focuses on developing the practical skills of those who may be called upon to support a community's Emergency Coordination / Operations Centre, through facilitated exercises.

Effective 1 April, 2014 only online exams for ICS 100 and the Basic Emergency Management courses will be accepted.

Effective 7 January, 2013 individuals who successfully complete the exam for online courses will be able to print their certificate.
